OSO planning + design has collaborated with L’Arche residents, staff, families, and partners to understand the current situation, long-term needs, and aspirations. We've identified caring and supportive people working and living in a welcoming environment, social, spiritual, and recreational programs, and creative expression opportunities. However, there are obstacles related to space, program range, visibility, and communication. The Bringing Home & Community Together project aims to address the urgent need for more homes designed for independent living and affordable and accessible housing. It also promotes community spaces and services that promote friendships, learning, and belonging for those who are unhoused, with or without intellectual disabilities.
